  1. Introduction. This Cookie Policy explains how Of Counsel Limited (“Of Counsel”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (the “Site”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we collect, use and protect personal data.

By continuing to use the Site, subject to the choices you make via our cookie banner/settings tool, you agree to our use of cookies as described in this Policy.

  1. What are cookies? Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website owner. Similar technologies covered by this Policy include local storage, pixels/web beacons, and tracking scripts embedded in third-party tools.

Cookies may be:

  • Session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser; or
  • Persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

They may also be:

  • First-party cookies, set by the Site itself; or
  • Third-party cookies, set by a service we use to embed content or run functionality on the Site.
  1. Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies. These are essential for the Site to function (for example, enabling secure browsing, load balancing, or remembering your cookie consent choices) and cannot be switched off in our systems. They do not require your consent, as they are necessary for the provision of the Site as a service you have requested.

Functional cookies. These support enhanced functionality, such as remembering preferences you have set. We do not currently deploy any functional cookies beyond those that are strictly necessary, but we may introduce them in future as the Site develops (for example, to support a booking or scheduling tool).

Analytics/performance cookies. These would help us understand how visitors use the Site (for example, pages visited, time on site) so we can improve it. We do not currently use any analytics tool or deploy analytics cookies on the Site. If we introduce one (such as Google Analytics or a privacy-focused alternative), we will update this Policy, name the specific cookies and their duration, and — where the tool does not qualify for any applicable low-risk exemption under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 — obtain your consent via our cookie settings tool before any such cookies are set.

Marketing/advertising cookies. These would be used to track visitors across websites for advertising or retargeting purposes (for example, a LinkedIn Insight Tag or Meta Pixel). We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies on the Site. We reserve the right to introduce them in future, in which case we will update this Policy in advance and obtain your prior consent via our cookie settings tool, as required under PECR and UK/EU GDPR.

This table reflects the Site’s current build. As we add tools such as analytics, booking widgets, or marketing pixels, we will update this table and the cookie settings tool accordingly before those cookies are deployed.

  1. Third-party cookies. The Site does not currently embed third-party booking, live chat, or marketing tools. Our contact and newsletter sign-up forms are hosted on the Site itself. If we add third-party embedded tools in future (for example, a scheduling tool or live chat widget), those providers may set their own cookies, and we will identify them here and, where required, obtain your consent before they are loaded.
  1. Managing your cookie preferences. You can manage non-essential cookies via our cookie settings tool, accessible through the banner shown on your first visit to the Site or via the “Cookie Preferences” link in the website footer. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings; guidance for common browsers is available at:
  • Google Chrome: support.google.com/chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox: support.mozilla.org
  • Safari: support.apple.com/safari
  • Microsoft Edge: support.microsoft.com

Please note that blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies may affect the functioning of the Site.

  1. Consent and the law. Where cookies are not strictly necessary, UK law (PECR, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) and UK/EU GDPR generally require your prior consent before such cookies are set, except for a narrow set of low-risk purposes (such as certain first-party statistical analytics) that the DUAA reforms permit to operate on an opt-out, rather than opt-in, basis, subject to clear information being provided. As the Site does not currently use any non-essential cookies, no consent choices are presently required beyond acknowledging this Policy. We will introduce a consent-based cookie settings tool before deploying any cookie falling outside the strictly necessary category.
  1. Changes to this Policy. We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, including when we introduce new tools or cookies on the Site. We will post the updated version here with a revised “Last updated” date and, where required, will seek fresh consent for any new non-essential cookies.
  1. Contact us. If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy, please contact via the Website or via Email: hello@ofcounsel.co.uk
